Less than 1l/100km consumption!
A fuel consumption of 0.9 l/100km
The German automaker will indeed present in Switzerland the final version of the XL1. Presented at first as a simple concept car, the XL1 looks set to become a production car at Volkswagen. This hybrid vehicle can boast to be particularly fuel efficient as its consumption is 0.9 l/100km and announced C02 emissions are around 21g/km. To achieve this record consumption, Volkswagen XL1 can count on a lightweight (less than 800 pounds) and particularly aerodynamic lines. Visually, the result is a futuristic car with false airs sports coupe.

50 km in all-electric mode

Under the hood, the XL1 has a 48 hp TDI engine coupled to an electric block 27 horses itself powered by a lithium-ion battery. Failing to be a powerhouse (the car accelerates from 0 to 100km / h in 12.7 seconds but still reached 160km / h top speed), this is a beautiful technology demonstration and for ecological model can travel 50km in all-electric mode.
The real car of the future?

Volkswagen is expected to announce at the Geneva show its commitment to mass produce the new XL1. Production should be very limited at first, but offers a glimpse more clearly what might look like the car of the future .
